West Bengal Panchayat Elections Violence: Politics has heated up after the violence during the Panchayat elections in West Bengal. In this episode, the statement of Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Digvijay Singh has now come to the fore. Speaking on this issue on Monday (July 10), Digvijay Singh said that such incidents cannot be tolerated. He said, I have been a fan of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, but the present situation is not good for our democracy.
Digvijay Singh’s statement has come when once again elections are going to be held in 697 booths in West Bengal. Among the districts in West Bengal where re-polling was announced, Murshidabad has the maximum number of booths, followed by Malda with 112 booths. Re-polling will be held in 89 booths in violence-hit Nadia, while in 46 and 36 booths in 24 Parganas districts and elsewhere.

Union Minister Smriti Irani strongly criticized the TMC for the violent clashes that took place during the voting on Saturday (July 8). Smriti Irani said, “The way people are seeing the murder of democracy in the panchayat elections of West Bengal. People are being killed for asserting their democratic rights, Congress is joining hands with the same TMC.”
