Mumbai BMC Politics: On Friday (July 21) in the Government of Maharashtra, the office of  Minister and in-charge of Mumbai Suburban Mangal Prabhat Lodha was opened on the first floor of the BMC headquarters. Opposition Congress, Nationalist Congress (Sharad Pawar) and Shiv Sena (UBT) party leaders are angry over the opening of Mangal Prabhat Lodha’s office at BMC headquarters.

It happened for the first time in the history of BMC that the office of any minister in charge of Mumbai was opened in BMC headquarters. After the opening of Mangal Prabhat Lodha’s office in BMC, the question is whether Mangal Prabhat Lodha’s new office in BMC will become the new political base of BJP?

We are asking this question because every week, Monday-Friday, one day each, former BJP councilors will solve public complaints by sitting in this office twice a day, morning and evening. That too when the BMC commissioner has already closed the offices of the parties 7 months ago.

Former BJP councilor said this
Former BJP councilor Rajeshree Shirvadkar said that a good initiative has been taken by Mangal Prabhat Lodha. More than a year has passed. Administrator’s rule in BMC. Mumbaikars are worried. We will sit here and work to solve the problems of the people. Mangal Prabhat Lodha never said that corporators from other parties cannot come here.

He said that If the former councilors of the opposition parties also want to come here and listen to the problems of the people, then they can come here. We will not have any problem with them, but the fact is that the work of some people is only to make allegations. They have nothing to do with the problems of the people. Nehal Shah said that Mangal Prabhat Lodha cannot come here all the days of the week. That’s why we have been instructed to sit in the office and listen to people’s problems and solve them.

What do the opposition leaders have to say?
Congress MLA Aslam Sheikh said, “He opens his office in BMC, does he want to become a corporator? It has never happened that a foster minister opens an office in BMC like this. I was also a foster minister, but we did not do this, if the councilors are coming there and marking attendance, then open the office for all the parties.”

Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey said that the office of BJP leaders and former corporators is being cleverly set up in the head office of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation. On the other hand, the offices of other parties have been closed. How the office of Guardian Minister of Mumbai Suburban Mangal Prabhat Lodha was allotted in BMC office is also a matter of surprise. Why is the administrator, government and BJP completely ignoring the opposition. Is there any respect left for democracy, constitution or not?

Jitendra Awhad of Sharad Pawar faction NCP said that if Mangal Prabhat Lodha’s office has started in BMC, then the offices of all the parties should be started in BMC headquarter, as well as the offices of all the MLAs of the state should also be started in BMC.
