Karnataka High Court: Once again, Karnataka High Court judges have received death threats. Karnataka Police on Monday (July 24) said that they have registered an FIR on the complaint of High Court judges. Police received a complaint from the Press Relations Officer of the High Court about threats to the lives of several judges besides himself. 

Central CEN Crime Police Station has registered an FIR against unknown suspects. Police said the Dubai gang is suspected of threatening Justices Mohammad Nawaz, HT Narendra Prasad, Ashok Nijgannavar (retd), HP Sandesh, K Natarajan and B Veerappa (retd). 

Case registered under these sections 

The FIR, registered on July 14, states that a ransom of Rs 50 lakh was sought in a bank account in Pakistan in a threatening message. After registering an FIR under sections 506, 507 and 504, he said that a case has been registered under sections 75 and 66 (f) of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act. 

The message came on WhatsApp Messenger

Police told that K. Muralidhar had filed a complaint on 14 July. He received a message on WhatsApp messenger from an international number on July 12 at around 7 pm. He received this message in Urdu and English languages. 

The judges had received death threats earlier also 

Earlier also in the year 2022, the judges of the Karnataka High Court, who gave the verdict on Hijab, had been provided tight security by the government after receiving threats to their lives. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai himself had said that we have decided to give Y-category security to the three judges who gave the verdict on hijab.
