Maharashtra NCP Crisis: After Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, there has been a split in NCP and Ajit Pawar has been made Deputy CM. Now all the leaders are making their own claims regarding this split. Senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan has claimed that according to the information received by him, BJP has promised Ajit Pawar the post of Chief Minister of Maharashtra. The political situation in Maharashtra has changed with Ajit Pawar joining the ruling Eknath Shinde-BJP alliance, even before Chavan, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut had claimed that Shinde would lose the chief minister’s chair. 

8 leaders become ministers with Ajit Pawar
On 2 July, Ajit Pawar became the Deputy Chief Minister, leading a split in the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). This came as a big blow to his uncle Sharad Pawar, who had founded the NCP 24 years ago. Along with Ajit Pawar, eight NCP leaders also took oath as ministers in the Eknath Shinde-BJP-led government. 

Chavan claims about bargaining
On this, Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan said on a question, “I had already publicly said that (Ajit Pawar can go with BJP) But I had to face criticism.” The Congress leader said he had already known it would happen. The former Chief Minister claimed, “There was only bargaining going on as to what Ajit Pawar would get. As per our information, with the help of the Speaker’s decision, (i.e. disqualification of 16 Shiv Sena MLAs including Eknath Shinde), a promise has been made to remove (Shinde) from the chief minister’s post and give it to Pawar.

”Chavan was in ‘Preetisangam’, the memorial of Yashwantrao Chavan, the first Chief Minister of Maharashtra. NCP chief Sharad Pawar reached the memorial in Karad and paid floral tributes to the late leader. Prithviraj Chavan said, “He (Sharad Pawar) is one of the constituents of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and I am here to support him.” Standing firmly together and will attend the opposition meeting to be held in Bengaluru.

MVA can go to High Court
‘Congress leader told that if MVA stands united and strong then Eknath Shinde-BJP alliance will stand no chance in elections, because former Chief Minister Uddhav People have “sympathy” with Thackeray and Congress and NCP are coming with him. Elections to Lok Sabha and Maharashtra Legislative Assembly are to be held next year.
