Sakshi Malik On Wrestlers Protest: Olympic medalist Sakshi Malik, one of the protesting wrestlers demanding the arrest of outgoing Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, on charges of sexual harassment Then said that their movement will continue. On Monday (May 29), he released a video for his supporters through social media and urged them to maintain their support. “We have not backed down,” Malik said.

After this, the belongings of the protesters were removed from Jantar Mantar.

What did Sakshi Malik say in the video? 

Wrestler Sakshi Malik said, “My greetings to all, as you all know that yesterday we were marching peacefully and the police detained us, arrested us and filed an FIR against us, while We did not harm any public property or anyone. There was 20-20 force on a woman. You yourself can understand how much he has done to us, you can also see in the videos.”

He further said, “The only means of making this video is that our supporters, who are still waiting somewhere, are waiting for us in the Gurudwara, then we want to tell them that today’s entire The day we were engaged in planning how the movement would go ahead, we have not backed down, the movement will continue and we will inform you soon whatever will happen. You guys keep supporting like this. Thank you.”

‘We will do Satyagraha at Jantar Mantar’

Earlier also in a tweet, Sakshi Malik had said that the movement is not over. He had said, “We will do Satyagraha at Jantar Mantar. Dictatorship will not work in this country. There will be a satyagraha of women wrestlers.” Malik had said, “If we can win medals on foreign soil, we will not stop without winning the fight on our own soil.” 

Wrestlers were protesting at Jantar Mantar since April 23

It is noteworthy that on April 23, the top wrestlers had resumed their agitation demanding the arrest of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Brij Bhushan has been accused of alleged sexual harassment of several female wrestlers, including a minor. Delhi Police has registered two FIRs against him. 

What did the Union Sports Minister say?

Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said in a program on Monday that an FIR has already been registered on the allegations of wrestlers as per the instructions of the Supreme Court. Nobody stopped them (on behalf of the authorities) from protesting at the designated place. When he took out the candle march at the designated place, no one stopped him. Since the FIR has been registered by the Delhi Police as directed by the Supreme Court, they should come forward and record their statement and appropriate action will be taken once the investigation is complete.
