Supreme Court: The Supreme Court has issued notice to CBI and ED on the bail plea of ​​former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia. The matter will be heard on July 28. Sisodia was arrested about 5 months ago in the liquor scam case. The High Court has rejected his bail plea.

After the High Court rejected the bail, the former Deputy CM of Delhi and the Aam Aadmi Party leader had moved the Supreme Court. On July 10, senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi placed the matter before Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and demanded an urgent hearing, which was accepted by the CJI. Singhvi had told the court that the High Court had rejected the bail plea. Sisodia’s wife is seriously ill and is hospitalised. 

Twice bail rejected by the High Court

Manish Sisodia has got a setback twice from the Delhi High Court regarding bail. On May 30, the High Court refused to grant bail. The court had said that Sisodia was in a higher position. In such a situation, they cannot say that they have no role in the matter of excise policy. Earlier on July 3, the High Court had rejected Sisodia’s bail application in the money laundering case related to the excise policy.

Sisodia is an accused in the excise policy case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing the alleged irregularities in the excise policy in Delhi. This matter is related to the tenure of Manish Sisodia’s Deputy Chief Minister. During that time, Sisodia was also in charge of the Excise Department. He was accused by the CBI for his alleged role in the excise scam. Manish Sisodia was arrested on February 26 this year, since then he is in jail.
