G20 Summit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written a letter to his G20 counterparts. In this, he has proposed in front of his counterparts to give full membership to the African Union in the upcoming Delhi Summit of G20. According to sources in news agency ANI, as part of India’s G20 Presidency, the PM has particularly emphasized on the inclusion of African countries’ priorities in the G20 agenda.

This move can be seen as an important development ahead of the upcoming Delhi summit of G20. India has got the responsibility of chairing the G20 this year, which India is carrying out very well. At the same time, Delhi Police is making security preparations on a war footing for the G-20 summit to be held in September. India is going to chair this conference for the first time.

The world’s most powerful economic group is the G20. At present, India is carrying out the responsibility of the presidency of this important international group. India is taking over the presidency of the G20 from December 1, 2022. During the presidency of India, a total of more than 200 meetings are to be held during a year, these meetings are scheduled in about 60 cities. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, this is the widest geographical spread of any G20 presidency. 

Highest participation from Africa

India has continuously become the voice of Global South and developing countries. Keeping their concerns firmly in front of the world. The ‘Voice of Global South’ summit was held in January under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister. It was attended by 125 countries, of which 18 were heads of state or government and the rest were ministerial level representatives. India’s presidency has seen the highest ever participation from Africa.
