Agartala, Jul 10: The Minister of State in the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and West Tripura MP, Pratima Bhowmik on Monday handed over free motorized tri-cycles to 94 divyangjan through a program organized at Narsinghgarh CRC in Agartala on behalf of the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.

These motorized tri-cycles were distributed among 94 people at a cost of Rs 45 lakhs.

Speaking on the occasion, MoS Pratima Bhowmik said, “The Bharatiya Janata Party government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to the overall development of the Divyang brothers and sisters”.

“This camp is organized under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment as a part of the determination of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’ and to put the most exploited and deprived people in the forefront of the society”, said Bhowmik.

She said, “Today is a day of great joy and pride for the people of the state, especially for the Divyang brothers and sisters. I had planned to do such a program in Agartala for a long time and finally it has been implemented. Through these materials, they will be able to live a simple life and earn money for themselves.”

The Union Minister of State also said, “I request the Divyang brothers and sisters of the state if they have the correct documents to contact the specified office as soon as possible. If necessary, I am ready to provide 100, 200 or even 300 items.”

“If more motorbike tri-cycles or other items are required in future I will come forward to provide them”, she said.

Bhowmik further said that Rs 26 crore have been provided by the Government of India to the state government for the benefit of the disabled people to provide ramps at various stands and bus stands, schools and colleges so that the disabled brothers and sisters can reach them easily.

The camp was attended by West Tripura District Sabhadipati Haridulal Acharya, West Tripura district magistrate Debapriya Bardhan, IAS Smita Mall.
