Maharashtra: 45 people trapped in floods, rescue operation underway with the help of SDRF and Indian Air Force -aabtak24

Maharashtra Floods Update: 45 people were trapped in the flood after heavy rains in Mahagaon tehsil of Yavatmal district in Maharashtra. The SDRF team is engaged in the rescue operation since morning. Deputy SP Vinayak Kote told that so far 32 people have been safely evacuated from Anand Nagar area. 

Deputy SP told that all these people have been shifted to safe areas. Two helicopters of the Indian Air Force are also stationed at the spot to participate in the rescue operation. At the same time, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also expressed concern by tweeting. 

What did Devendra Fadnavis say? 

Fadnavis said in a tweet, "45 people are trapped due to floods in Anandanagar village of Mahagaon taluka. The district, about 150 km from Nagpur, has been receiving heavy rains since Friday (July 21) morning, causing floods in several areas and forcing people to leave their homes. 

People being shifted 

District Magistrate Amol Yedge said that Mahagaon tehsil received 231 mm of rain till the morning of Saturday (July 22) and 117.5 mm in the district. There has been flood in Panganga flowing through the district. The District Magistrate informed that some roads of Yavatmal town have been submerged in water and people are being evacuated from the affected areas to safer places. 

Rain alert at these places 

About 140 people have been taken to safer places in Kasergaon of Sangrampur tehsil in Buldhana district. Nagpur’s Regional Meteorological Center has forecast thundershower and heavy rainfall at isolated places in Yavatmal, Gadchiroli, Amravati and Washim districts on Saturday (July 22) as well.
