Manipur Violence European Parliament: India has given a strong reaction to the discussion on the status of Manipur in the European Parliament (EU). India said that this is completely our internal matter. Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted on Thursday (July 13) that we have seen that the European Parliament discussed Manipur and adopted a so-called urgent resolution.

Arindam Bagchi said that this kind of interference in India’s internal affairs is unacceptable and reflects the colonial mindset. Indian authorities at all levels including the judiciary are aware of the situation in Manipur and are taking steps to maintain peace and harmony and law and order.

This advice was given to the European Parliament

He said that the European Parliament would be advised to use its time to focus on its internal issues. Incidents of violent conflict have come to the fore in Manipur for almost two months. Opposition parties have accused the government of failing to control it.

Our response to media queries on the European Parliament discussing developments in Manipur:

Passed a resolution on Manipur

What did the European Parliament say?

The European Parliament in its resolution has asked the Government of India to prevent any further escalation of tension. It also called on the authorities to allow journalists and international observers to visit the region and end the internet ban. India has clearly said on this that it is completely India’s internal matter.
