West Bengal Panchayat Elections 2023: On Saturday (July 8) in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, two children picked up a country bus mistaking it for a ball from the side of the road. As soon as the child caught hold of it, it exploded. Both the children were injured in the blast, who have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. 

Officials told news agency PTI that two children were injured in Saturday’s blast when they picked up a country-made bomb from the roadside mistaking it for a ball. He told that this incident took place in Bhangor in the middle of the panchayat election polling in the state.

Violence at several places during polling

Voting for the three-tier panchayat elections in West Bengal has taken place on Saturday. During this, violence has taken place in many places. Several incidents of violence were witnessed in Bhangor area adjacent to Kolkata even before polling. Two people had also died during the filing of nominations on June 15.
