Manipur Violence Victim: Amidst the ongoing violence in Manipur, one of the women who were paraded without clothes and subjected to vandalism, narrated the incident, which will break anyone’s heart.&nbsp ;One victim said she was vandalized near her village Bi Phanom in Kangpokpi district on May 4, a day after clashes broke out between the Meitei and Kuki communities, reports Scroll.

He told that when it came to know that the Meitei mob was burning the houses of the village, his family and others fled but the mob found them. The victim alleged that her neighbor and her son were taken to some distance and killed. According to the victim, the mob then started attacking the women and asked them to ‘take off our clothes’.

The woman alleged that she was then dragged to a paddy field and asked to lie down there by the men. He told, “I did as he told me. Three men surrounded me… One of them said to the other, ‘Let’s rape’, but in the end they did not do it.” The victim said, “They (the men) did not go to the extent of raping. Went but he grabbed my chest.

21 year old woman gangraped

According to the report, according to the police complaint lodged by the relatives of the women, a woman was later gang-raped. Based on the complaint, the police had registered a zero FIR at the Saikul police station on 18 May. An officer of Saikul police station said that other charges including rape and murder have been leveled against the accused. According to the complaint lodged with the police, the incident took place on the afternoon of May 4. 

The complaint said that some unknown miscreants with weapons like AK and INSAS rifles had forcibly entered our village in Kangpokpi district and after that the mob burnt and ransacked the houses. According to the complaint, five residents of the village were involved in the incident who were running towards the forest to save themselves. There were two men and three women among these people. Three people belonged to the same family.  

Violent mob snatched people from police custody

It was told in the complaint that on the way to the jungle, the team of Nongpok Sekmai police station rescued them, but near Tubu, two kilometers away from the police station, a violent mob stopped them on the way and snatched them from the custody of the police team. The mob immediately killed a 56-year-old man among the five. Three women were forced to undress and were stripped naked in front of the crowd. The 21-year-old woman was brutally gang-raped in broad daylight while the other two women managed to escape from the spot with the help of some acquaintances of the area.”

He said, ‘What has happened to the daughters of Manipur… Its culprits can never be forgiven.’’ He said, ‘‘I am standing near this temple of democracy, then my heart is full of pain, full of anger. The incident that has come to the fore in Manipur is going to put any civilized society to shame. How many are the sinners, who commit crimes, and who are they in their place… But the whole country is being insulted. 140 crore countrymen are feeling ashamed.’’
