Controversy over article on Savitribai Phule, NCP meets Mumbai Police Commissioner, demands action -aabtak24

Savitribai Phule: A delegation of Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) met Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar on Wednesday (May 31) demanding action against two websites. NCP alleged that these websites have published objectionable articles against social reformer Savitribai Phule. Many senior leaders including NCP leader Leader of Opposition Ajit Pawar, Chhagan Bhujbal and NCP state president Jayant Patil were present in this delegation. 

NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal said that these websites published derogatory articles against the well-known social reformer Savitribai Phule. He said, “The article that has been published about Savitribai Phule. It has been written that girls from Savitribai Phule’s school were sent to Pune’s  Cantonment (Army station). Chhagan Bhujbal told that he has written a letter to Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar in the whole matter. It has been told that all this is happening through Saryu Trust. (The organization named Saryu Trust  is running the website). 

Indic Tales and Hindu Post linked the school opened for girls by Savitribai Phule and Mahatma Phule to the then British School Cantonment. Claimed that some girls were sent to serve the Britishers. For this reason, his school was given help from the British government. 

What did the government say?
The NCP had demanded action in the matter of publishing derogatory articles on social reformer Savitribai Phule by the website Indic Tales. After this the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde has issued instructions to take action on the website Indic Tales.
