Agartala June 19: The opposition CPI-M on Monday fired fresh salvos at the state government under Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over power, water, road and other crisis in the capital city.
A large number of activists and supporters under the banner of CPI-M Sadar committee traversed various routes of the capital city voicing against various crisis prevailing in different parts of the city under Agartala Municipal Corporation.
Speaking to the reporters in this regard, one of the senior CPI-M leaders said, “The ruling government keeps on boasting about Smart City, Agartala, but in reality, Smart City is a myth. Instead of improving the quality of life for urban residents and steering rapid urbanization, people across the city are dealing with numerous crisis every day”.
“There is no maintenance done by the Agartala Municipal Corporation whereas a number of water connections are not working, roads are damaged, power outage has turned to be a new headache for the city dwellers”, he said.
The leaders further alleged, “Just a single hour of rain turns the entire city water logged whereas the ruling party is using the concept of Smart in flexes and festoons for their publicity”.
“Earlier TUEP workers used to be engaged in cleaning up the drains regularly, but nowadays drains are not cleaned up at all”, he alleged.
The CPIM leaders further alleged that in several places across the city, bridges have collapsed, but the Mayor of AMC has not taken any initiative to repair them.
The left leaders further said that they will meet the AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder in coming days and apprise him about the situation.
