Delhi CM Letter To LG: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has written a letter to LG VK Saxena regarding the continuously deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi. In this letter, CM has expressed serious concern over the unprecedented increase in criminal incidents inside Delhi. CM told LG that there were four murder incidents inside Delhi on last Sunday. Due to increasing criminal incidents, there is an atmosphere of panic among the people of Delhi and every person is feeling insecure. He said that I have demanded LG and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to take concrete steps to improve the law and order situation in Delhi.
Punjab on top in terms of law and order
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that we have fixed the education system of Delhi. Whatever areas we had, we have fixed most of the areas. Law and order in Punjab came to us for the first time. In the beginning, there was some difficulty in handling the law and order of Punjab, we have now made the law and order so excellent that today Punjab is counted among the top states in terms of law and order. is.
Arvind Kejriwal wrote that if Delhi Police is given to us, then we will show excellent law and order inside Delhi. Earlier, a committee was formed at the police station level in Delhi. The local MLA was the chairman of that committee. RWAs, councilors and enlightened citizens were included in this committee. The meeting of this committee was held every month. When the AAP government was formed in 2013, the police station level committee has been disbanded. It should be revived again.
‘Instil confidence of security within the people’
On the other hand, CM Arvind Kejriwal in his letter to LG has requested that LG take immediate effective steps to improve the law and order situation in Delhi. CM Arvind Kejriwal has said in the letter that as a responsible citizen and representative of two crore people of Delhi, I want to extend your full cooperation in ensuring law and order inside Delhi and protecting the interests of the public. Through his letter, CM Arvind Kejriwal also drew the attention of the LG towards the latest report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). Citing NCRB, he said that the report of NCRB is an eye-opener for the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Lieutenant Governor responsible for maintaining law and order in Delhi.
‘32.20 percent crime in Delhi’
CM said that it is a very disappointing situation that even after the NCRB report, no concrete steps have been taken. It has been shown in this report that out of the total crimes committed against women in 19 metropolitan cities of the country, 32.20 percent of the crimes have taken place inside Delhi alone. Concrete steps should be taken to stop the increasing crimes against women after such alarming figures have come to the fore, but it is very unfortunate that the Union Home Ministry and LG have not taken adequate steps, due to which no improvement is visible at the ground level yet.
The CM has emphasized in the letter that there is a shortage of policemen in Delhi. That’s why the citizens of Delhi have now started hiring private security personnel for their security. Kejriwal wrote that I am compelled to say that the kind of readiness needed to prevent crimes in Delhi is lacking and those who are responsible for maintaining law and order are completely missing. .
Demand to revive police station level committees
In his letter, CM Arvind Kejriwal has stressed the need for immediate measures like increasing police patrolling inside Delhi at night. Along with this, there has been talk of having an open dialogue with the citizens of Delhi to improve law and order. Also, CM Arvind Kejriwal in his letter has proposed to hold a meeting with the Delhi cabinet and the Lieutenant Governor to discuss the serious issue of law and order and exchange views.
The CM also suggested in the letter that a joint meeting can be held to chalk out an effective strategy to reduce crime incidents in the national capital Delhi. Police officers, local MLAs, councilors and people from Resident Welfare Association (RWA) can attend this meeting. Apart from this, the CM has demanded to revive the police station level committees.
