1910 tea worker families provided free land under CM Tea Workers Welfare Scheme – aabtak24

Agartala Jul 06: Under the Chief Minister’s Tea Workers Welfare Scheme, 1,910 tea worker families in the state have been allotted free land through the revenue department for housing.

Principal Secretary of the Revenue Department Puneet Agarwal announced this in a press conference at the Press Conference Hall of the Secretariat here on Thursday.

Highlighting the achievements under the state Revenue Department, the Chief Secretary said that the construction of various administrative buildings was undertaken in the financial year 2022-23 among which, the North Tripura District Magistrate Office Building, Sonamura Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s Office and 112 Tehsil Kacharis are currently under renovation. The total cost for this will be Rs 50 Crore 42 lakhs.

Moreover, construction of 42 new Tehsil Kachari offices in the state was undertaken during the financial year 2022-23 among which, work of 20 Kacharis has already been completed.

The principal secretary further said, “5 construction works have been undertaken in the Special Assistance to State Scheme in the financial year 2023-24. The works include construction of office complex of South Tripura District Magistrate, Sarum Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s Office, Kumarghat Sub-Division Magistrate’s Office, Kailashahar Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s Office and construction of 38 new Tehsil Kachari office buildings at a cost of Rs 78 crore 40 lakhs”.

Besides, 3 other projects have been taken up for the current financial year under the Golden Jubilee Tripura Nirman Yojana at a cost of Rs 35 crores and 14 lakhs.

Agarwal further informed that the Tripura Disaster Management Authority provides financial assistance in case of loss of life, property damage etc.

Under this, financial assistance has been provided to the families of the dead and injured in the tragic ‘Ulta Rath Yatra’ in Kumarghat.

“The families of those who died in Kumarghat ‘Ulta Rath Yatra’ accident have been given financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh, Rs 2 lakh 50 thousand for 60 per cent seriously injured, Rs 74 thousand for 40-60 per cent seriously injured and Rs 5,400 for those with less than 40 per cent injured”, he said.

Briefing on the progress of the resettlement process of Bru refugees, the principal secretary said that according to the quadripartite agreement, 6,302 Blue families have been identified at 11 places in the state and the process of resettlement is underway.

“So far 5,658 houses have been constructed for Dra families. Construction of houses for the rest of the families is underway. For this, each family will be given house building assistance in three equal installments of Rs1.5 lakh”, he said.

Also, 3,961 Bru families have been given a one-time fixed deposit of Rs 4 lakh. 5,286 families have been issued ROR, 5,759 families have been issued ration cards and Aadhaar cards have been issued to 23,017 persons, ST certificate issued to 14,019 persons, PRTC issued to 13,070 persons, REGA Job Card issued to 4,632 families and Voter ID card issued to 14,314 people so far.

Additional secretary Pradeep Acharya, State Coordinator of Disaster Management Sarat Das also remained present at the press conference.
