Haryana Assembly Elections 2024: INLD Chief and former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala said that if his party gives him a ticket, he will contest the state assembly elections to be held in 2024. Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) chief Omprakash Chautala said on Thursday (July 20), ‘Who doesn’t want to contest elections? I will definitely contest if my party gives ticket.’

‘Given unconditional support to Vajpayee’
Dushyant Chautala’s father Ajay Singh Chautala is currently the chief of Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), which he formed after breaking away from INLD. JJP is in alliance with BJP in Haryana. Omprakash Chautala was sentenced to 10 years in jail in the teacher recruitment scam and after completing the sentence, he was released from jail about two years ago. As per the current law, he cannot contest elections for six years from the date of release.

INLD chief’s younger son and senior party leader Abhay Singh Chautala had earlier said that Omprakash Chautala would contest from Uchana Kalan if there were no legal hurdles in view of the former chief minister’s conviction. The former Chief Minister said that he cannot predict with which parties the INLD may forge an alliance in the future. He said, ‘We have tied up with many parties in the past. The BJP against which we stand today, once upon a time during the time of Atal Bihari Vajpayee – we had given him unconditional support.’

‘A good government will be formed’
On the opposition front ‘INDIA’, the INLD chief said that all parties should join the group that will take on the BJP-led government. He said, ‘Change will definitely come and circumstances will change. The misrule of this government will end and a good government will be formed.’

The ‘Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance’ (India) is an alliance of 26 opposition parties that have joined hands to contest the next year’s Lok Sabha elections against the ruling BJP. Omprakash Chautala, who is visiting the state, said that the party’s Parivartan Yatra is getting overwhelming response and support from the people.
