Rajasthan Assembly Election: Congress, which is preparing for the assembly elections, will brainstorm on Thursday (July 6) to come back to power in Rajasthan. In this, the eyes rest on the party’s decision regarding former Deputy CM Sachin Pilot, who has been sitting quietly for the last one month after agitating against the Gehlot government.
In the last few days, the Congress top leadership has held meetings with prominent leaders of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram. Now it is the turn of Rajasthan on Thursday. Party President Kharge and Rahul Gandhi will strategize with prominent leaders of Rajasthan at the Congress headquarters from 11 am on Thursday. In this meeting Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will join through video conferencing.
What did the Congress say?
Congress sources say that the meeting to be held on Thursday will be only for election preparations. In this, feed back will be taken from all the leaders. Sources said that the Gehlot-Pilot dispute will not be discussed in this meeting, but it is believed that in the election meeting, where Gehlot will talk about the achievements of his government, on the other hand, the pilot can raise the flaws of the Gehlot government.
During the tenure of former CM Vasundhara Raje, Pilot did a padyatra against the Gehlot government in April regarding issues like investigation of alleged corruption and paper leak. In fact, the Gehlot–pilot controversy remains a cause of concern for the Congress.
At the end of May, Kharge and Rahul Gandhi made Gehlot and Pilot sit together and asked them to remain united. However, even after a month, neither any action was taken regarding the demands of the pilot nor any post was announced for the pilot.
What does Sachin Pilot want?
If sources are to be believed, Sachin Pilot again wants the post of Rajasthan Pradesh Congress President. But the party leadership wants to make him the national general secretary. As a middle way, he can be made the head of the election campaign committee.
Last week itself, after the meeting of Chhattisgarh, the Congress had announced to make TS Singh Deo the Deputy Chief Minister. In such a situation, there are speculations whether any Deputy Chief Minister will be made in Rajasthan also? For the last few days, there is talk of giving big responsibility to Harish Chowdhary.
It is clear that Congress will contest elections in Rajasthan on the face of Gehlot. Waiting for the reshuffle in the organization and the Gehlot government. It has to be seen what decision Congress takes regarding Pilot and whether Pilot accepts the decision of the party? The Congress high command knows that no matter how much they brainstorm, till Gehlot and Pilot do not contest the elections together, it will be very difficult to win the election again.
