Manipur Violence: Amidst the violence in Manipur, a case of shame to humanity has come to the fore. A video of two women being paraded nude in the state went viral on Wednesday (July 19), triggering fresh tension.

In this video of May 4, it is seen that the crowd is parading two women of a community naked. The officers provided this information. On this the police said that the matter is under investigation. 

What did the police say?
Manipur Police SP K Meghachandra Singh issued a statement saying that the case of stripping of women is on May 4. In this, we have registered a case in Nongpok Sekmai police station against the people convicted in other sections including sections of gang rape, murder and kidnapping. We are trying to arrest those who do this as soon as possible. 

What did the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum say?
The video surfaced a day before the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum’s (ITLF) proposed march on Thursday (July 20).According to an ITLF spokesperson, the ‘disgusting’ The incident took place on May 4 in Kangpokpi district and it is seen in the video that the men are continuously molesting the helpless women and they (women) are crying. Praying to him. 

The spokesperson condemned the ‘heinous act’ in a statement and demanded that the central and state governments, the National Commission for Women and the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes take cognizance of the crime and take action against the perpetrators. 

The Kuki-Zo tribals are also planning to raise the issue during their proposed protest march in Churchandpur on Thursday (July 20).  A ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ in the hill districts on May 3 to protest against the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status in Manipur. Clashes started after the event. Since then, more than 120 people have lost their lives.
