Punjab’s Information and Public Relations Department said that the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested former Deputy Chief Minister OP Soni on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income during the period from 2016 to 2022.

OP Soni is the fourth former Congress minister to be arrested by the Vigilance Bureau in a corruption case after Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot and Sundar Arora. These former Congress ministers are currently in police custody under the AAP government in Punjab.
Om Prakash Soni has served as the Deputy Chief Minister during Charanjit Singh Channi’s government. Senior Congress leader Om Prakash Soni has won elections from Amritsar five times and was a cabinet minister in the Capt. government.
