Agartala Jul 02: “We do not want any more story of appointment. But we want to know from the health minister of the state who is also the chief minister, when the vacancies will be fulfilled”, said unemployed Pharmacists of the state as they addressed the press demanding immediate recruitment into vacant posts.

A good number of qualified youths holding the degree of Pharmacy, earlier approached the state health minister cum chief minister Dr Manik Saha and placed deputation demanding recruitment into vacant posts. But as nothing positive could be achieved in this respect, the unemployed youths on Sunday once again placed the demand through a press conference organized at the Agartala press club.

Addressing the press, one of the qualified unemployed pharmacists said, “In December 2021 and later in August 2022, the appointment of pharmacists under Tripura Health Department was announced after a cabinet decision. But till date no notification has been issued for recruitment”.

“We are around 4,000 qualified pharmacists under allopathic, Ayurvedic and Homeopathic departments. There are at least 519 vacant posts in the health department, but even after that, the state government is not taking any positive role towards our recruitment”, he said.

The youths claimed that no recruitment of pharmacists has been done in the state after the year 2016.

The job aspirants further said, “Hospitals across the state are reeling under crisis of staffs, many hospitals have closed because of lack of homeopathic and ayurvedic pharmacists. But the government is in slumber”.

The youths alleged that instead of repeatedly seeking an appointment of the state chief minister who also holds the portfolio of state health minister, the did not get any opportunity to meet him.

The job aspirants demanded the state government and its health department to immediately initiate recruitment process of the qualified pharmacists.

They also announced to go for larger agitation in near days if the demand is not met at the earliest.
