West Bengal Panchayat Election Result: According to the counting trends of West Bengal panchayat elections, the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) has been declared victorious in East Midnapore district despite being well ahead of the opposition parties in most parts of the state. There has been a big shock in Nandigram. Nandigram is considered to be the bastion of Shubhendu Adhikari, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly.
Adhikari is also the BJP MLA from Nandigram, where he defeated Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee by a margin of 1,956 votes in the 2021 assembly elections. Banerjee was later elected to the assembly from Bhabanipur in Kolkata in a by-election.
What is the result of Nandigram?
BJP in Panchayat elections in Gram Panchayat areas of Boyal-I, Boyal-II, Khodambari-I and Khodambari-II under Nandigram-II block The performance of has been significant. Out of the total 61 Gram Panchayat seats there, BJP candidates have either won or are ahead in 37 seats. It is followed by TMC candidates on 23 seats and one independent candidate.
BJP candidates have won or are leading in eight of the 13 seats in Boyal-I, pushing TMC back in five seats. In Boyal-II, nine seats have gone in favor of BJP, while six have gone to TMC and one independent candidate.
In Khodambari-I, BJP won eight out of 15 seats, followed by TMC with seven seats. In Khodambari-II, 12 out of 17 seats are in favor of BJP. TMC has won on five.
What did Shubhendu Adhikari say?
Shubhendu Adhikari said that the results of Nandigram reflect the fact that people have rejected TMC, they Opposed the ‘goons’ and cast their votes. He said, “If this picture of Nandigram was visible in the entire state, TMC would have become a minority in most of the districts. But our fight against the ruling party TMC will continue.”
