Amarnath Yatra 2023: After the death of three pilgrims on Monday (July 17) during the ascent of the Amarnath Yatra, the death toll during the yatra has gone up to 30. With more than 20 thousand pilgrims visiting on Monday, the total number of pilgrims in this year’s Amarnath Yatra has crossed the figure of 2 lakh 50 thousand.

According to officials, a fresh batch of 6,225 passengers left Jammu for the Valley on Tuesday morning in a security convoy. Of these, 2511 are going to North Kashmir’s Baltal base camp while 3,714 are going to Pahalgam base camp while a total of 2 lakh 50 thousand 27 yatris have completed the pilgrimage to the holy Amarnath cave on Monday.

Meanwhile, three pilgrims died on Monday, taking the death toll during this year’s Amarnath Yatra to the current yatra since it began on July 1. The number of pilgrims has increased to 30. Of the three people who died on Monday, two died of natural causes, while the third pilgrim died of unspecified causes, officials said. One of the dead was from Uttar Pradesh, the other from Rajasthan and the third from Madhya Pradesh.

Earlier, two more people died during the Amarnath Yatra climb on Sunday, the official said, adding that Urmilaben Modi (53) was killed on Saturday after being hit by a falling stone at the bottom of the cave shrine of Amarnath.  In another incident, Chhattisgarh resident Meghnath (65) was found unconscious on the Pahalgam road leading to the temple on Sunday.
