Manipur Violence Update: Chief Minister N. Biren Singh held an important meeting on Monday (July 3) amid ongoing violence in Manipur. He held this meeting with the officers of the Joint Headquarters (CHQ) at the CM’s office to discuss important security matters related to the current situation in the state.  

Deployment of additional state forces

The CM said in a press conference that the bunkers established in the hill and valley districts would be removed. At the same time, additional forces are being deployed to provide security to the farmers of both the Meitei and Kuki communities so that farming  activities can begin. 

Many deaths so far 

Actually, since the ethnic conflict started in the northeastern state on May 3, educational institutions are closed. Army and other central forces have been deployed to bring peace in the northeastern state, where over 100 people have been killed and thousands injured in two months of violence between ethnic communities. A large number of homes and places of worship were destroyed. 

Biren Singh was about to resign from the post of CM 

A few days ago, N. Biren Singh was about to resign from the post of Chief Minister. He told after the news of his resignation that he is the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. So he was going to take such a step. 

In a conversation with NDTV, he told that he felt that he was losing the confidence of the people, but took back his resignation when he saw a crowd of people outside his house in support.
