Rise in income of state can help Govt. in taking more people-oriented decisions: Finance Minister – aabtak24

Agartala June 14: The state budget has increased to about Rs 27 thousand crore in the last financial year. In that fiscal year, the state’s own source income was Rs 2,765 crore. Which is almost double compared to 2017-2018 financial year and majority of this comes from GST.

In view of this, the state government has emphasized on real tax collection from the tax payers, said state Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy as he inaugurated a one-day training camp on GST collection organized by the tax authorities at Agartala Town Hall on Wednesday.

DDs of all departments under Agartala Treasury-1 participated in the day’s camp.

Pranajit Singha Roy further said, “By adopting the correct approach to collecting GST, government officials can play a role in increasing the state’s own income”.

He said that as the income of the state increases, the government will be able to take more people-oriented decisions for the welfare of the state and the people.

“Most of the developmental work requires the help of the Centre as the state’s own sources are limited. But as much as it is possible to earn from the state, it should be earned in a proper manner with the joint efforts of all”, he added.

Speaking at the camp, Commissioner Tax Department, Rakhi Biswas said that from June 14- June 16, training will be given to the BDOs of all departments under the 3 treasuries of West Tripura district regarding GST collection.

Later such training camps will also be organized in every district of the state.

Wednesday, 181 DDOs of Agartala Treasury-1 of various departments also participated in the camp.

Additional Secretary of Finance Department Akinchan Sarkar, Treasury Officer of Agartala Treasury-1 Harshita Biswas and others also remained present at the program.
