Rajnath Singh in Lucknow: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh reached Lucknow on Saturday (June 17) to attend a program organized on self-reliant India. Here he made a big announcement that not only nuts and bolts, now BrahMos missiles, drones, aircraft and electronic warfare systems will be manufactured in Uttar Pradesh. Rajnath Singh said, we have created a favorable environment for defense manufacturing through defense corridor in Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. We also need to achieve self-reliance in the areas of military hardware beyond the horizon.
What is UPDIC?
UPDIC is an ambitious project through which It is intended to reduce the dependence of the Indian defense sector on foreign suppliers. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that so far a total investment of Rs 2,500 crore has been made in UPDIC. He said that not only nuts and bolts will be made here, but work will also be done to prepare drones, electronic items, aircraft and BrahMos missiles.
