Manipur Police On Violence: There is a boil in the whole country over the ethnic violence that broke out in Manipur in the month of May and during this time two women were paraded naked. Meanwhile, the police arrested another accused in the case on Monday (May 24). Police said that so far seven people, including a minor, have been arrested in connection with the attack.

Police said that apart from this, 14 more people have been identified on the basis of viral video. Continuous operation is being conducted to arrest the accused. Manipur Police said in tweet, “ So far a minor has been arrested in the case. The state police is making all out efforts to arrest the remaining criminals by raiding several suspected hideouts.”

Juveniles have been arrested/ apprehended in the case so far. The State police is making all-out effort to arrest the remaining culprits by conducting raids at many suspected hide-outs.

Action after the video of the incident went viral

Police have already arrested 6 people in connection with the viral video of the incident that took place on May 4 in Kangpokpi district. It is alleged that the mob sexually assaulted these women before letting them go. A 26-second video of the incident surfaced on July 19 and went viral on social media.

One of the women in the video is the wife of an ex-Army personnel who served as a Subedar in the Assam Regiment and also fought in the Kargil War. A complaint regarding the video was lodged at Saikul police station in Kangpokpi district about a month ago (21 June). Over 160 people have lost their lives since caste violence broke out in the state on May 3.
