The All India Muslim Personal Law Board decided in this meeting that a draft will be prepared regarding the Uniform Civil Code. Apart from this, people associated with the board will ask for an appointment with the chairman of the Law Commission. After this the board will submit its draft to the Law Commission. It has been told that the essential parts of Shariat will be mentioned in this draft. Prime Minister Modi’s statement was also mentioned in the board meeting.

All the opposition parties targeted the BJP and the Modi government regarding this and said that this issue is being raised as soon as the elections are near. The opposition alleged that efforts are being made to divert attention from the real issues like inflation and unemployment. On Prime Minister Modi’s statement, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi questioned why the Prime Minister is taking inspiration from Pakistan? Owaisi asked whether the country’s pluralism and diversity will be taken away in the name of UCC?
