Meghalaya Mob Attack: For a long time, agitations are being held in Meghalaya for the demand of winter capital. In such a situation, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Konrad K. Sangma called on the agitating organizations to talk on the issue.
Chief Minister Konrad was having a peaceful discussion with the agitating organizations for more than 3 hours at CMO office Tura. Meanwhile, suddenly a crowd of thousands came near CMO Tura and started pelting stones.
5 policemen injured
In retaliation, the police had to fire tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. Five policemen were injured in the incident and uproar. The windows of CMO Tura were also pelted with stones.
Statement of the Chief Minister’s Office
In the video released by news agency ANI, it can be clearly seen that the mob suddenly came and started attacking from outside the CMO office. The Chief Minister’s Office said that some people in the crowd started pelting stones at the office building and even the security personnel and tried to break the gate.
When the situation worsened, CM Conrad Sangma himself took care of the security personnel injured in the violence and is monitoring the whole situation. The injured policemen have been admitted to the hospital.
Statement of the police officer
A police officer said, “The chief minister and other ministers were holding a meeting when the protesters gathered and pelted stones. The Chief Minister remained stuck in his office for a long time. Several people have minor injuries.”
