Kalyanpur, June 16: Over 12 shops, an Anganwadi center, and a rural post office were burnt as a massive fire devastated Ekrai market at Naksirai para ADC village of Kalyanpur on the late night of Thursday.
The fire spread fast, gutting over 12 shops, many of which belonged to poor locals of the area. The firefighters of Kalyanpur brought the blaze under control after fighting it for a few hours.
MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury along with several other officials rushed to the place after getting the news. The MLA also met the affected traders and ensured that they will be given appropriate compensation for their loss.
However, police sources said that there was no casualty adding that the cause of the fire will be known after an investigation.
