Coromandel Express Derail: The Odisha train accident was so horrific that even after 5 days of the accident, many families are still searching for the dead bodies of their loved ones lost in the accident. About 1000 injured people were rescued in the accident that happened on Friday (June 2) in the state. At the same time, a total of 278 people have died. According to the information, there are many bodies which have been handed over to someone else.
According to NDTV, there are at least three such families in Bhubaneswar who have claimed that the dead bodies of their relatives have been handed over to someone else. After which now the officials told that the dead bodies will be handed over to the family members only after the results of the DNA test come. Because of which there are many families who have been waiting for many days, but the dead body has not been handed over to them.
The body was handed over to someone else, not the family
The Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation said on Tuesday (June 6) that the delay in handing over the dead bodies is due to the delay in taking them. Some such relatives are coming who are not of blood relation. Because of which the dead body will be handed over only after the DNA test. At Bhubaneswar’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the mother told NDTV that her 16-year-old son’s body had been identified but she was told that it had already been handed over to someone else.

Apart from this, some other families have not received the dead body even after identification. Gorachand Banerjee of South 24 Parganas of West Bengal has been at the AIIMS mortuary since Monday to receive the body of his son Shubhashish Banerjee. Giving the reason for the delay, the officials said that two people are claiming one dead body. Because of which the bodies will be handed over only after the results of the DNA test are out.
According to information received from railway officials, out of 278 bodies, 101 bodies are yet to be identified. The same 177 people have been handed over to their relatives. The dead bodies have been kept in six different hospitals. Whose relatives are being identified by showing photographs.
