Agartala March 27: As the polling dates of Lok Sabha election approaches in Tripura, the prime opposition party CPI-M has alleged that the ‘BJP sheltered goons’ have launched attacks on party workers and supporters including their families at various places across the state.
Demanding immediate action on behalf of the administration including the State Election Commission, long- time Left leader Advocate Partha Ranjan Sarkar said, “Prior to the crucial elections in the state, the BJP- backed miscreants have already started their hooliganism with an aim to create a situation of terror among the common people so that they refrain themselves from reaching to the polling centres. In the dark of night, ONGC resident and CPI-M activist Tarak Chandra Saha was attacked. The hooligans not only broke into his residence and beat him up but also launched a scathing attack on his family including his old mother, children and wife”.
They did not stop here. As Tarak Chandra Saha went out with his car to report the matter at Amtali Police Station, the miscreants owing allegiance to BJP stopped his car and again assaulted him physically, he said.
Adv Parth Ranjan Sarkar added that the miscreants once again stopped injured CPI-M activist in front of the TMC hospital when luckily police came to his rescue.
The left leader said, “Election means all political parties have equal rights to fight election, campaign and urge voters to cast votes for them. Also, it is the choice of common people whom they will support”.
He urged the police administration and the State Election Commission to ensure that a free and fair election is held and no opposition supporter or their families are attacked in the dark of night.
