Agartala, June 29: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday visited the persons, who suffered injuries in the unfortunate incident at Kumarghat and are now under treatment in the GBP hospital, Agartala.
Soon after the heart-wrenching incident in which seven people lost their lives and 16 others suffered severe injuries due to electrocution during Ulta Rath Yatra, the Chief Minister rushed to the place of the occurrence and visited the injured persons in three hospitals under the Unakoti district on Wednesday night.
On Thursday he met those referred to GBP Hospital, Agartala for better treatment.
During his visit to the GBP hospital, Dr. Saha interacted with the medical officers on duty and inquired about the treatment of the injured persons.
He also passed an instruction to the hospital authority to provide all possible help so that the injured persons don’t face any problem for treatment.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister already announced financial assistance for the next of kin of each deceased and injured persons.
As per the State Government’s decision, ex-gratia of Rs. 4 lakh would be provided to the next of kin of each deceased. Besides, Rs. 2.5 lakh for those suffered severe (above 60 percent) injuries and Rs. 74,000 for those who suffered 40-60 percent injuries.
He also ordered a probe into the incident by a committee headed by the District Magistrate.
