Its Lok Sabha chamber has three times the number of seats with enough space for 888 members. The new Rajya Sabha has a seating capacity of 384 members. On this occasion, PM Modi had said that there was a challenge related to the seating area in the old building of Parliament and in the coming time the number of seats will increase and the number of MPs will increase. Rama Rao said in a press release that the southern states followed the policies of the Center and controlled the population with a progressive mindset. If population-based delimitation happens, it will be a ‘grave injustice’ to those states. He expressed apprehension that due to delimitation the southern states may get less Lok Sabha seats and on the other hand the states especially in the northern region may benefit from the increase in Lok Sabha seats.

According to him, the southern states are at the forefront not only in population control but also in all kinds of human development indices. Rama Rao claimed that the southern states with only 18 per cent population contribute 35 per cent to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and are contributing a lot to the national economic development and the country as a whole. He appealed to the leaders and people of the southern states to go beyond politics and stop the ‘injustice’ Raise your voice against.
