Odisha Train Accident: It has been 10 days since the painful train accident in Odisha, but the process of question and answer is not ending. According to the news agency PTI, Railways has said that foot massager, crockery, AC and other items were not luxury expenses. These were purchased for use in the running rooms ie guest houses made for loco pilots, guards running on the train. After 9-10 hours of duty, loco pilots go to these running rooms for compulsory rest. Railways said that this is as per the recommendation of the Railway Safety Committee and not wasteful expenditure as is being claimed.
Congress had made the allegation
The Congress on Friday (June 9) cited a 2021 report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) to claim that the central government ‘misused’ funds allocated for railway security by selling crockery, car rentals, furniture, Done on laptop and foot massager.
