Weather News: Many states have been submerged due to heavy rains. Situation like flood, landslide and water logging persists in many states. The Amarnath Yatra has also been suspended due to the outbreak of weather in Kashmir.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday (July 8) issued a rain related alert in many parts of the country. The department warned of heavy rains in many parts including Uttarakhand, Rajasthan (East), Jammu Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi for the next two days. 

Alert in West India 
IMD predicts light to moderate and heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places over Konkan, Goa, Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat till July 11 Is. Heavy rain likely at isolated places over Saurashtra and Kutch. 

Weather in North-West India
According to the Meteorological Department, moderate to heavy rains in Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh for the next 5 days on July 8 to 10 is likely to happen. This can lead to landslides and water-logging at places. 

Delhi submerged due to heavy rains
Many areas of the city were submerged due to heavy rains in the capital Delhi on Saturday (July 8). The IMD issued an ‘orange’ alert for rain in the city and a ‘yellow alert’ for Sunday (July 9).

Alert in Himachal Pradesh as well 
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rains in many districts of Himachal Pradesh as well. The rains have been predicted to continue in the state till July 13. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for the possibility of flood in rivers in Kangra, Chamba, Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Sirmaur, Solan and Una districts.

Weather pattern over East & adjoining Northeast India 
Very heavy rainfall over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland & Manipur during next 5 days is likely to happen. There is a possibility of bad weather over Bihar from 9th to 12th July, Jharkhand from 11th to 12th July and Andaman and Nicobar Islands during 8th to 10th July.

Weather in Central and South India 
Karnataka is likely to continue with light and isolated heavy rains during the next five days. Also, there is a possibility of rain in different states of central India.
