Delhi Rain Update: Yamuna river is flowing above the danger mark in the country’s capital Delhi. Flood water has entered many areas of Delhi. Many roads in Delhi have turned into ponds. Till now hundreds of people have been evacuated from the areas around Yamuna. Three children have also died due to drowning in water. 

1. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said about the problems being faced due to rising water level of Yamuna river, "Navy personnel have been deployed. After nearly 20 hours of non-stop toil, the first jammed gate of the ITO barrage has been opened. Soon all five gates will be opened. Special thanks to the Army Engineer Regiment and the divers."

2. According to the news agency PTI, three boys drowned while taking a bath in flood water on Friday (July 14) in Mukundpur area of ​​North West Delhi. Officials said that the three boys who were victims of the accident were residents of Jahangirpuri area of ​​North East Delhi and their age was between 10 and 12 years. This is the first case of death in flood related incidents in Delhi.

3. Arvind Kejriwal said about the drowning incident of three minor children, "It is very sad, those three children went to bathe in the river whereas we have told many times to stay away from the rivers. Many people are going to see the flood, so don’t do it because the current is so strong that no matter how great a swimmer you are, you will not be able to tolerate that current."

4. According to news agency ANI, the water level of Yamuna river was recorded at 208.17 meters till 6 pm on Friday (July 14). The Meteorological Department has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for moderate rain and thundershowers in Delhi. In some parts of which a flood-like situation has prevailed. It includes many localities including Laxmi Nagar, Ayanagar, Lodhi Road, Mungeshpur. 

5. CM Arvind Kejriwal told that the Indraprastha regulator of Delhi Jal Board (DJB) got damaged due to the increased water level in Yamuna. Delhi Government, NDRF and Army teams are fixing it. At the same time, now politics has also intensified regarding this. Saurabh Bhardwaj, a minister in the Delhi government, has alleged that the central government did not provide NDRF teams on time. He said that in case of emergency, the officers should listen to the words of the ministers.

6. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena had said on the allegation of Saurabh Bhardwaj that this is the time to work together and not for allegations and counter-allegations. I can say many more but it is not necessary at this moment. At the same time, former cricketer and BJP leader Gautam Gambhir targeted you and said, "When water was released in Yamuna from Haryana, then why didn’t Arvind Kejriwal ji along with his ministers take out water from Yamuna with a bucket." 

7. Gautam Gambhir said, "It is very unfortunate that this is the condition of Delhi today. it had to happen. This is what will happen if the government does not spend a single rupee on infrastructure during its 9-year tenure. This was bound to happen just by doing freebies and vote bank politics."

8. According to the Central Water Commission, the water level of Yamuna was recorded at 208.20 meters till 5 pm on Friday. At the same time, the water level of Yamuna decreased to 208.17 meters at 6 pm. CM Arvind Kejriwal also tweeted that Okhla water treatment plant has started. Water treatment here was stopped after the plant was flooded and has now been restarted after the water receded.

9. In this rain, the 45-year-old record of maximum water level of Yamuna in Delhi has also been broken. Earlier in 1978, Yamuna’s ‘maximum flood level’ was 207.49 meters, which has reached above 208 this year. In such a situation, the risk of flood has increased in cities, villages and towns. The Delhi government is continuously trying to control the situation. 

10. Delhi government said that 25,478 people have been evacuated so far. 22,803 people are in tents/shelters. 16 teams of NDRF have been deployed for rescue work in flood affected districts. Low-lying areas have witnessed flood due to backflow of river water, breach of embankments etc.
