Agartala June 19: Sitting on the chair of Tripura Pradesh Congress’ president, former MLA Asish Kumar Saha on Monday called upon all those leaders and activists who had defected to the Bharatiya Janata Party to return to the Congress fold.
Saha was speaking from the Tripura Pradesh Congress headquarters in Post Office Chowmani area of the capital city as he received felicitation from the party leaders at different levels who joined the program from various parts of the state.
Asish Saha said some senior leaders had quit the Congress in the past out of their own political compulsions.
“Actually, these leaders and members has joined the BJP not because they had any faith in the saffron ideology but because of their own reasons, but are now alienated and receive no respect from the party. I therefore, urge them all to join the Congress and work for the betterment of common masses”, he said.
The TPCC chief further said, “Congress will come back stronger as an organization in Tripura with joint efforts by the party leaders, members, supporters across the state and in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections Congress will contest from both the seats and ensure victory of party candidates”.
Saha further lashed out the senior BJP leaders at both the Centre and state for remaining silent over the burning issues like unrest in Northeastern state Manipur, wrestlers protest among others.
Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman also remained present on the occasion and felicitated Asish Kumar Saha on being chosen as the party chief in Tripura.
