Agartala Jul 02: Engaging themselves in constant service towards the people through various programs, the state clubs are playing a pioneering role towards building the society in a new way, said Tripura chief minister Dr Manik Saha.

Inaugurating a blood donation camp and Rabindra-Nazrul birth anniversary program organized by Jubasamaj Club in Joynagar area of the capital, the chief minister hailed the role of Clubs in Tripura.

He said, “The club culture in Tripura has changed drastically. Clubs are now organizing blood donation camps, sports and cultural activities, helping to eradicate drug menace in their area besides trying and solving domestic issues in the locality”.

“The noble initiatives of the clubs have changed the face of the society today”, said the chief minister.

Dr Saha further called upon the clubs to take special initiatives to extend more support to the people through various programs related to public welfare.

Appreciating the efforts of Jubasamaj Club, Dr Saha said, “The state government and the administration has taken various steps to expand and improve services for the common masses. But the clubs, social organizations and other institutions of the state must do their bit to make Tripura drug-free and a peaceful place to live in”.

Extending his regards to those who voluntarily donated blood at the day’s program, Dr Manik Saha said, “The re is no greater donation than blood donation. 3 to 4 patients’ lives can be saved by the blood of one blood donor. Currently there are 12 public and 2 private blood banks in the state. And because of adequate donation, the demand of approximately 42,000 units of blood could be met in the state”.

The chief minister further informed that the teaching and learning process in Tripura Dental College will commence from the current year. Besides, the state government is also thinking of setting up a Homeopathic and Ayurvedic College in the state.

Later, the chief minister unveiled the plaque and laid the foundation stone for pond renovation and beautification project of the Jubasamaj Club area.

In this context, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder said that a total of Rs 30 lakhs has been sanctioned for the project.

The club authorities including Jubasamaj club secretary Subrata Sen among others remained present at the day’s program.
