Agartala, July 08: Tripura has witnessed a remarkable surge in its budget allocation under the BJP government. The budget has almost been doubled over six years– from FY 2017-18 to 2023-24.
The budget allocation for major sectors and Janajati welfare has also been increased significantly. The budget for Janajati welfare increased from Rs 403 crore in FY 2017-18 to Rs. 1081 crore in 2023-24.
Tripura Finance minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Friday presented the budget of Rs. 27,654.4 crore, with the projected capital expenditures of Rs 5,358.70 crore.
The state budget for the FY 2017-18 under the previous Left Front government was Rs 15,956.56 crore.
This substantial increase in the budget reflects the significant growth in the state since the BJP formed the government. It also highlights the proactive approach to governance and development taken by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and his government.
The BJP government’s focus on promoting economic growth and welfare has led to a projected growth rate of 8 percent for the upcoming financial year, compared to the 6 percent estimated growth rate during the FY 2017-18.
The Left government had announced only 9 new schemes in the budget for FY 2017-18. However, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, the BJP government has introduced a noteworthy 13 new schemes, indicating his commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of the people and ensuring good governance.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha described the 2023-24 Budget as inclusive and future-oriented, highlighting its benefits for all sections of society.
