Agartala Jul 08: With the Lok Sabha elections looming, around 331 voters from 124 families joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in a rally held at North Ramnagar area under Bamutia assembly constituency on Saturday.
Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Tinku Roy welcomed the defectors by handing over the party flag in presence of former BJP MLA Krishnadhan Das, BJP leaders Papiya Dutta, Biju Pal among others.
Addressing the program, minister Tinku Roy hailed the present BJP government in the state for taking positive and people-oriented steps that led to drastic changes in the lives of many, especially the poorer sections of the society.
“In only 5 years of the BJP government, people have got more than what was promised”, he said.
Talking about the welfare oriented works done for the tea garden employees, Roy said, “It is the BJP government that has increased the wages of the tea garden workers, gave them free lands and are also provided benefits under various state and central government schemes”.
Criticizing the former Left Front government, the minister said, “Earlier government schemes, houses and social pensions were given to those who used to run behind the communist leaders with flags in their hands. But these days under the BJP government there is no discrimination by party, all the needy are provided with houses under PMAY project and other facilities”.
The minister further urged all to keep faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi led BJP government and vote for him in the ensuing Lok Sabha Polls so that the developmental pace in the state can be continued.
