BSF seizes phenesydyl worth Rs 1.60 Crores – aabtak24

Agartala June 09: The Border Security Force (BSF), Tripura has been putting sincere efforts throughout the year to check the issue of smuggling across the international borders.

In yet another major drive conducted on Thursday in collaboration with the local police, a suspected Bolero vehicle numbered TR-07-2004 was intercepted by the BSF jawans.

The vehicle was found to be carrying 3,195 bottles of Eskuf syrup, valued Rs. 5,59,125/-, intended for smuggling into Bangladesh. Consequently, one Indian national was also detained by police.

Later, on the basis of information provided by the arrested individual, BSF troops along with Airport PS swiftly launched further operation.

BSF jawans assisted by Police tracked one truck bearing number WB 61B 1917 parked on Agartala airport road near Usha Bazar area.

The search of the vehicle revealed approximately 84800 bottles of Eskuf syrup having a market value of Rs. 1,48,40,000/- packed in several cartons concealed under sacks filled with corn.

In addition, BSF troop also seized 8,960 bottles of Eskuf syrup, valued at Rs. 15,68,000/- from a truck near Mohanpur village.

In a single day, 96,955 bottles of Eskuf/ Phensedyl worth Rs. 1,69,67,125/- were seized by BSF troops.

Senior BSF officials while briefing the report of massive seizure said that the BSF deployed across various regions of the Tripura frontier are undertaking proactive operations against trans-border smugglers, leading to the seizure of various contraband items.
