Lok Sabha Election: After the defeat in Karnataka, BJP is alert about the Lok Sabha elections. In view of this, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda will visit the southern states. Meanwhile, former AIADMK MP V. Maitreyan also joined BJP on Friday (June 09).

Senior BJP leader Shah will visit Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh from June 10. At the same time, BJP President JP Nadda will also visit Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. Both the leaders will address public meetings as part of BJP’s programs on the occasion of completion of nine years of Modi government.

What is the programme?
A public meeting of Amit Shah will be held in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. BJP national president JP Nadda will also hold a huge public meeting in Srikalahasti. Recently Shah met Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader N Chandrababu Naidu in Delhi. After their meeting, there is speculation in political circles whether BJP will join hands with TDP. The state’s ruling party YSR Congress has so far been supporting the central government on major issues.

Planning to visit Telangana
Amit Shah and JP Nadda are also preparing to visit Telangana. Shah will come to Khammam in Telangana on June 15 to address a public meeting under the party’s mega public relations campaign and migrant scheme. And JP Nadda will rally here in Kurnool.

How many Lok Sabha seats are there in the South?
There are 131 Lok Sabha seats in the five states and two union territories of the South. Of these, Tamil Nadu has 39,  Kerala 20, Karnataka 28, Andhra Pradesh 25, Telangana 17, Puducherry one and Lakshadweep one seat.

In these seats, BJP has 27 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka and four in Telangana. After the victory of Congress in Karnataka elections, it is believed that there are many difficulties in front of BJP. However, the party is leaving no stone unturned to make inroads.

In view of this, BJP is constantly emphasizing on the symbolic importance of the southern states. Be it Sengol in the new parliament or the new headquarters of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Delhi unit being built on Deendayal Upadhyaya (DDU) Marg, a glimpse of South Indian temple architecture.
