Agartala, June 17: In a sudden move, Congress has removed its Tripura unit chief Birajit Sinha on Saturday evening.
Former MLA Ashis Kumar Saha has been appointed as the new Pradesh Congress Committee president with immediate effect.
No comment regarding the removal of Sinha was available from any Congress leader till the time of filing this report.
The All India Congress Committee, however, appreciated the contributions of the outgoing PCC president.
In a press release, MP and AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal said, “Hon’ble Congress President has appointed Shri Ashis Kumar Saha, Ex-MLA as the President of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee with immediate effect.”
Saha, a seasoned politician and close aide of Sudip Roy Barman, fought the 2023 assembly elections from 8- Town Bordowali seat and gave a tough fight to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.
