Anger in the country on Manipur incident… PM said – will not spare the culprit, SC strict -aabtak24

Manipur Viral Video Incident: The incident in Manipur has put the whole country to shame. From politicians to general public, everyone is strongly condemning this incident. PM Modi spoke of strict action on this incident of two women being paraded naked in Manipur, Home Minister Amit Shah called the CM of Manipur. The Supreme Court told the government on Thursday (July 20) that if you cannot do anything, we will. Meanwhile, there was a lot of uproar in the monsoon session of Parliament as well.  

1. PM Modi said before the start of the monsoon session that today when I have come among you, standing near this temple of democracy, my heart is filled with pain and anger. The incident that has come to the fore in Manipur is a shameful incident for any civilized society. How many are there who commit sins, who are they? They are in their place, but the whole country is being insulted, 140 crore countrymen are feeling ashamed. What has happened to these daughters of Manipur can never be forgiven.

2. The Prime Minister further said that I urge the Chief Ministers of the states to further strengthen the law and order in their states. Take the harshest steps especially to protect our mothers and sisters. Be it Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Manipur or any part of the country, maintaining law and order and respecting women should be kept above any political debate. I assure the countrymen that any culprit will be brought to justice. Will not be spared. The law with all its might will take one step after another. 

3. Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on this incident. The Chief Minister of Manipur said on this matter that Taking suo motu cognizance of the incident soon after the video surfaced, the Manipur Police swung into action and made the first arrest this morning. A thorough investigation is currently underway and we will ensure that strict action is taken against all perpetrators, including the possibility of the death penalty. 

4. The Supreme Court asked the Central Government to take action on this matter. CJI DY Chandrachud said that the video of two women being paraded naked is really disturbing. If the government will not act, we will. Now the time has come for the government to actually step up and take action. This is absolutely unacceptable in a constitutional democracy. The court asked the Center and Manipur government to tell what action they have taken to punish the criminals. The court has fixed the matter for next hearing on July 28. 

5. This heinous incident that shook the entire nation took place on May 4 in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district. Whose video is now going viral. It is seen that men are parading naked helpless women, molesting them continuously and they (women) are crying and pleading with them to leave. It is alleged that gang rape has also been done with these women. Police has arrested the main accused of the incident. Whose name is Huirem Herodas Meitei (32).

6. It may be noted that ethnic violence has been taking place between the Meitei and Kuki communities in Manipur for about two months. The clashes began after a tribal solidarity march was organized in the hill districts on May 3 to protest against the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status. At least 160 people have lost their lives in the state since then. Internet is suspended in the state, thousands of houses have been burnt, a large number of people are living in shelter homes or forests. 

7. There has been a lot of uproar over this incident in the monsoon session of the Parliament which began on Thursday. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi said in the Lok Sabha that we have made it clear that we are ready to discuss Manipur in both the Houses. Manipur is a sensitive subject. The Home Minister will reply to the discussion in detail. Let the speaker fix the date for discussion, we are ready to discuss. After the ruckus continued, the proceedings of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned till Friday.
 
8. Demanding discussion in Rajya Sabha, Leader of Opposition and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that Manipur is burning, women are being raped, they are being paraded naked and the Prime Minister is silent. are sitting. He is giving statement outside the house. We want a detailed discussion on Manipur and PM Modi should make a statement on it in the House. We also demand the immediate resignation of the Chief Minister of Manipur and imposition of President’s rule. 
 
9. Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that seeing the action of the House today and the attitude of the opposition in the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee, it is clear that they had come with a mind that they would not allow the proceedings of the House to continue. . Despite the government making it clear that it is ready to discuss the Manipur incident, the Congress and other opposition parties stalled the proceedings of the House. It is clear that the opposition does not want to allow the proceedings of the House to go on. 
 
10. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken suo motu cognizance of the Manipur incident and asked the state police chief to take prompt action in the matter. The Commission tweeted that the NCW Manipur condemns the incident. Taking suo motu cognizance, the Director General of Police, Manipur has been asked to take appropriate action immediately. He has described this incident as condemnable and completely inhuman.
