Air India flight passenger’s ruckus, smoking in toilet, fight on being stopped -aabtak24

Air India News: Air India on Wednesday (July 12) said that on July 8, a male passenger on one of its Toronto-Delhi flight assaulted the crew and some other passengers and tried to use the toilet. Also damaged the door. The passenger was handed over to security agencies on arrival at Delhi airport. 

According to the news agency PTI, the passenger is a resident of Nepal. Air India spokesperson said, "On July 8, 2023, a passenger in flight number AI188 from Toronto to Delhi showed aggression. He smoked in the toilet. On refusal, damaged the door and assaulted the crew and passengers who received minor injuries."

Crew warned several times 

The spokesperson said that the passenger was warned several times by the crew member and finally he was overpowered and made to sit on his seat. Police have registered a case in connection with the incident. According to the FIR, the passenger allegedly changed his seat after the flight took off and started abusing the economy class passenger. 

He was also warned many times and then when there was a smoke warning in the flight, he was found inside the toilet of the flight with a cigarette and a lighter. The complainant said, "When I opened the door, he pushed me and ran towards his seat. When I stopped him from going near the door, he pushed me and abused me."

The passenger came under control after a lot of efforts

The complainant said that after this he immediately informed the Captain. An attempt was made to overpower him with the help of crew member Puneet Sharma and four other passengers but he could not be brought under control. That’s why he sought help from more passengers and then somehow he was pacified.
