Delhi Ordinance 2023: The support of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is increasing against the ordinance of the Center related to administrative services in Delhi. On Sunday (July 16), the Congress also made its stand clear on the issue, saying that it would not support the Centre’s ordinance in Parliament regarding regulation of services in Delhi.
Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said that the party’s stand is clear that it will oppose any such move of the Center to interfere in the states ruled by the opposition parties through governors. The party has decided to oppose the introduction of a bill in Parliament on an ordinance to regulate services in Delhi.
AAP got support from Congress
Venugopal said that our stand is very clear, we are not going to support this ordinance. The Aam Aadmi Party has welcomed this decision of the Congress. AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha tweeted that the Congress has announced its clear opposition to the ordinance related to the control of services in Delhi. This is a positive development.
CM Kejriwal was seeking support from opposition leaders
AAP’s national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has met several opposition leaders separately to garner support against the Centre’s ordinance. During this, he was assured of support from almost everyone.

Apart from Congress, the parties supporting AAP against this ordinance include Trinamool Congress, Bharat Rashtra Samithi, Samajwadi Party, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Communist Party of India, CPI(M), Shiv Sena (UBT), Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction ), Janata Dal (United), Rashtriya Janata Dal, DMK.
Will you get success in Rajya Sabha?
With the support of the Congress, now the Aam Aadmi Party can expect to drop this bill in the Rajya Sabha. Where BJP is not in majority. However, this may still prove to be an uphill task as the central government has managed to pass several bills including the three farm laws in the Rajya Sabha despite strong opposition.
The central government had brought an ordinance
The central government had brought an ordinance on the transfer and posting of officers in Delhi, nullifying the Supreme Court’s decision that gave control over the services to the elected government. The Ordinance provides for setting up the National Capital Civil Services Authority for transfers and disciplinary action against Group-A officers of the Danix cadre.
