Manipur Violence: The video which surfaced from Manipur about two months ago, shook the whole country. After the nationwide uproar over this incident, now the accused are being arrested. Four people including the main accused have been arrested so far. One thing had come to light regarding this incident, in which it was told that this was done due to a fake video. In which women of other communities were told about rape. Now this claim has been rejected by the police officials.
The violence started from May 3
According to the Times of India report, the attack on the women who were paraded naked on May 4 was a continuation of the ruckus the previous night. There was a reaction. In fact, violence started in Manipur from May 3, during which the attackers kept roaming in many villages continuously. That’s why they caught two women of Phenom village and got them stripped and paraded. The reason behind this was not any kind of fake video.
The video went viral a day after the incident
According to police officials, the fake video in question was circulated on Twitter on May 5. On the same day, Manipur’s DGP also clarified about this video, saying that the alleged video of the rape victim in Churachandpur was fake. While the incident of parading women naked was a day earlier i.e. on May 4.
Video of one year ago went viral
Actually the fake video which went viral, showed a dead body of a woman. Along with this, it was claimed that the woman was raped and murdered in Churachandpur. It was later reported that the body was dumped in a red trolley bag near the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura in November 2022, which went viral as being from Manipur.
Let us tell you that there is a conflict between the Kuki and Meitai communities in Manipur for the last two months. So far more than 140 people have died in this violence. Thousands of people have been displaced there. Several units of the army and paramilitary forces are stationed in the state.
