Ambasa June 15: Resented locals approached the District Magistrate with a complaint against setting up liquor shops in residential areas.
According to reports, a foreign liquor store was opened six months ago at the entrance to Ashok Palli Para in Ambasa.
The locals alleged that since the liquor shop have been opened in the area, the peace and tranquility of the locality has been lost.
“Youths are getting addicted to liquor and people often drink in public and parked their vehicles on both sides of the road which is polluting the environment. The women area facing hardship in tackling the drunkards”, alleged one of the locals.
The local residents failed despite repeated oral objections but the owner of the liquor shop did not pay any attention.
To get rid of such conditions, the local residents complained to the District Magistrate on June 11 with mass signatures.
Meanwhile it could be known that the foreign liquor counter was in Dolubari Bazar, not far from Ambasa but later was shifted to the residential area in Ashok Palli.
However, even after repeated complaints by locals, nothing was done to solve the issue.
Moreover, there is a lot of speculation about how the concerned department gave permission to open the counter in the lane of a neighbourhood.
