Cyclone Biparjoy: A high alert has been issued in Gujarat regarding Cyclone Biparjoy. It is feared that this storm coming from the Arabian Sea will make landfall in Gujarat in a few days. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also held a review meeting on preparedness for Cyclone Biparjoy on Tuesday (June 13).

Rains begin in Mumbai and Gujarat

Due to the effect of ‘Biparjoy’, there has been heavy rain in many parts of Aravalli district of Gujarat. Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel appealed to the people to follow the instructions issued by the system from time to time.
NDRF Preparation
NDRF’s DIG Operation Mohsin Shahidi told that their focus areas are Kutch and Saurashtra, where there is a possibility of landfall (cyclone). So far, the work of evacuating more than 30,000 people to safer places has been done. At the same time, 17 teams of NDRF and 12 teams of SDRF have been deployed in the districts affected by Cyclone Chakraborty.

IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said, "Biparjoy can cause much more harm. In Gujarat, Kutch, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Jamnagar districts may receive more than 20 cm of rain from June 13 to 15." He said that he would not be surprised even if more than 25 cm of rain would be recorded here. Generally, it does not rain so heavily at this time, so there is a possibility of flood in the low-lying areas."
Risk of harm from Biperjoy
According to the Meteorological Department, due to Biparjoy, such strong winds can blow that trees can fall. Due to this, the possibility of damage to houses has also been expressed. With the falling of tin shed, the banks can also be damaged. In some areas, there can be a danger of floods along with rain. Waves up to 3 to 6 meters are possible along the low-lying coastal areas of Saurashtra, Kutch.
Railway preparations for Biparjoy
Western Railway CPRO Sumit Thakur told that in view of the danger of Biparjoy, 69 trains have been cancelled, 32 trains have been short-terminated while 26 trains will be short-originated. Meanwhile, Railway Board Chairman and CEO Anil Kumar Lahoti and other board members are keeping a close watch on the situation arising out of Biporjoy.
